I work in clay, both functional and sculptural ceramics, as well as pictorial feltmaking, botanical printing, and mixed media. With “pictorial felt-making”, the fleece is layered and “painted” “. I enjoy using metaphors, symbols, and references to the natural world in my felted art.” Botanical printing uses local vegetation and natural dyes to print on paper and fabric, which I enhance with handmade paper, collage, drawing, watercolor and embellishment. I am also ceramicist, working in a variety of ways with clay to create sculpture, pottery and tiles. The world of nature and mythology are constant inspirations, and reading about cross-cultural ideas about nature often inspires new work. I find endless enjoyment in creating the well-made functional ceramic object that will grace people’s tables and homes and provide a connection and satisfaction in the use of the item. 1185 Sunnyslope Road PO Box 383 La Pointe WI 54850. joanslack33@gmail.com
